Reflecting on my past, I never imagined I would proudly proclaim, “I am a non-smoker.” Cigarette smoking had tightly bound me, affecting my health and daily life.

Waking up to the haze of smoke and winding down the day in the same manner was neither healthy nor sustainable for my lungs. My reliance on these harmful substances felt incompatible with my intelligence. However, I later learned that biochemicals were reinforcing certain neural pathways in my brain. Dr. Yildiz elaborated on this through his concept of Deltafosb, which I will reference later in this piece. Ultimately, it all ties back to the dopamine system.

With a firm resolve and hopeful outlook, I embarked on a transformative journey to liberate myself from smoking's grasp. Although it was a daunting habit to overcome, I soon discovered significant benefits along the way. Allow me to share a glimpse of my challenging experience.
