Chapter 1: Vanya's World

This narrative centers around a boy named Vanya, who is just 7 years old but noticeably shorter than his classmates. With a small, compact frame, a round head adorned with floppy ears, and expressive gray eyes, he stands out in his own way.

While he appears to be behind in physical growth, Vanya excels in strength and agility, often outpacing his peers in running and cycling. Among his friends, he naturally assumes the role of the leader, initiating games, establishing rules, and directing everyone’s actions.

However, Vanya is not fond of deviations from his established rules and prefers to maintain control over the situation. Losing is something he detests. He often employs clever tactics to alter the rules, ensuring his victory, which brings him great joy.

In moments of reprimand, Vanya seems to shrink even further. When he is scolded, he meets the gaze of the person chastising him with unwavering intensity, his teeth clenched, and his lips quivering slightly—but he never sheds a tear.

Vanya has a deep affection for his toy cars, holding them in high regard. However, he struggles with the toys belonging to others. One day, an incident occurred where all the cars left in the sandbox were found destroyed. Despite the obvious evidence against him, Vanya never confessed his involvement, often lying with an innocent demeanor, as if he truly believed in his own fabrications.

Tragedy struck when Vanya was just 6 years old, as his mother passed away unexpectedly.

One day, he opened up to me about his feelings regarding his mother, expressing a desire to know if she was happy in heaven. I suggested he write her a letter, and to my delight, he agreed with enthusiasm.
