Embracing My Identity as a Rising Star: A Journey to Success

Chapter 1: Recognizing My Potential
We all have the potential to shine brightly, and I am no exception. I've worn many hats throughout my career: a former financial adviser, an author, a certified life coach, and a podcast host. Each of these roles contributes to my definition of success.
In addition to these professional achievements, I take pride in being a loving mother, grandmother, and devoted wife. Yet, above all, I see myself as a continual work in progress. It has taken years for me to understand that I can redefine who I am and what I aspire to be at any stage in my life.
What does success mean to you? For me, it diverges from the conventional definitions. The Oxford Dictionary describes it as achieving something desired after a period of effort. Thus, success is subjective; it is intimately connected to our individual goals. When we fulfill our personal aspirations, we step into our success.

Reflecting on my younger years, I realize that my greatest desire was simply to belong. Ironically, I found that true belonging emerged when I ceased striving to fit in and began to engage genuinely with life. As I’ve matured, I have gained clarity on what a fulfilling life truly means to me.
Over the past year, I have made significant strides in realizing my ambitions. I've published a book, launched my own podcast, and coached women to boost their self-confidence. Achieving these goals has solidified my sense of success. I am carving out a life that resonates with who I am.
If I choose to see myself as a rising star, I will embrace that identity wholeheartedly. Personal growth and success are integral to my vision of confidence. It embodies the belief that I can manifest my dreams, no matter the effort or time required. With determination, I can transition from my current situation (point A) to wherever I envision myself (point B).
Section 1.1: The Power of Positive Inquiry
Frequently, we impose limitations on ourselves, believing we cannot achieve our dreams. We often overlook the pivotal question: “How can I make this a reality?” I spent years preoccupied with fitting in, neglecting to ask myself this critical question until later in life.

A significant turning point for me came in 2019 when I retired after 42 years in retail banking. This change prompted me to consider how I could occupy my time meaningfully. I resolved to finally write the book that had lingered in my mind for years. From the moment I began typing, I called myself an author. Embracing this identity made writing a daily habit.
The most rewarding aspect of my previous career was the opportunity to connect with and assist others. My passion for helping people led me to the field of coaching, where I empower women to build their self-esteem, just as I did. I considered myself a life coach from the moment I made that decision. Yes, I needed to enhance my skills and gain qualifications, but in my mind, I was already on the path to success.
